Seven days ago, disc golf fans watched on in horror as Kristin Tattar gifted Paige Pierce another major title via a four-putt on the 18th green – just an absolute train wreck. You’ve seen this before: It was the kind of legendary choke job that takes weeks (or months) to get over …
It took Tattar five days.
Her campaign to take down the 2022 Jonesboro Open couldn’t have gotten off to a better start. While some (yours truly) thought she’d need a tournament or two to recover, Tattar had other plans: Through two rounds, she’s 16 strokes under par – good enough for first place …
That’s SEVEN STROKES ahead of Missy Gannon and Kat Mertsch in second position.
Whereas Tattar’s yet again found her stride, Catrina Allen and Paige Pierce have struggled to find theirs. A strong second-round 62 for Allen has her in sole sixth – 11 strokes back of Tattar. Pierce looked sluggish on the course, perhaps experiencing some “major hangover” on her end.
She’s in 12th at one under par.
Back to the topic at hand: Tattar’s ownership of Jonesboro.
Tattar leads the FPO field with a jaw-dropping 13.52 strokes gained from tee to green. She’s missed only one fairway and circle two in regulation through two rounds – yet again, first (by a wide margin) in her division. All of this combines for an average round rating of 1014 …
Kristin Tattar’s middle name might not be “Domination,” but it should be.

Numbers aside, again, the thing that makes her curb-stomping of the FPO field most impressive is the self-inflicted, emotional bludgeoning she underwent last weekend – losing a major is tough …
REALLY tough.
Seriously, think back to the last time you had a bad case of the yips on the putting green during a casual round or league night – it’s ugly. It’s during those rounds that you usually say something like, “Man, I’m not keeping score anymore – I’m just out here to have fun.” What’s ironic, however, is that it’s these kinds of rounds that actually are by far the least fun …
Right?
Okay, now take that pathetic level of yips-infused play and travel to Jonesboro, Ark. Now toss in a sustained 15- to 20-mph wind. Now go toe-to-toe with the world’s best female disc golfers. Now, last of all, get out of your own head and embarrass the living heck out of them …
That’s what Tattar’s done this weekend – mercifully, she’ll finish the job in a few hours.
True champions have a short memory.
