Discraft discs are the worst …
The weight-range stickers on the inside rim use gecko-feet juice as an adhesive …
Or something similar – Spider Tack, perhaps.
To pry them off, assuming you don’t want to shed a fingernail in the process, your best bet is a butterknife. But once removed, the residue from the backside of the sticker is still there. And you better believe it’ll stay there until you toss the thing in a pond – it’s there for the long haul.
Making matters worse, the glue mixes with ick and grime …
It’s nasty.
Of course, you can leave the sticker right where Discraft placed it – many professionals do. Contrary to popular belief, this ISN’T illegal, as the manufacturer (not the retailer) put it there.
But you shouldn’t have to do this …
If you’re as anal-retentive about your plastic as I am, you want things just so. I’m super selective about the people I let throw my discs. In my bag, each disc has its own designated place. And there’s a good chance the obsessive-compulsive drying of my discs beats ‘em in far too fast.
But I digress: Regardless of manufacturer, to get rid of annoying sticker goop …
Do the following:
- Step No. 1 – Using either your fingers or a knife, remove the sticker.
- Step No. 2 – Pour a few drops of Goo Gone on the affected area.
- Step No. 3 – Rub it like mad with a paper towel or toothbrush.
- Step No. 4 – Rinse the disc with water. Then, dry it off.
This will work EVERY time.
Goo Gone is hardly a “break-the-bank” product – it’s about four-ish bucks …
But if you don’t have Goo Gone nearby and don’t feel like springing for a new bottle, there are other ways to skin this cat. Magic erasers with some soap and warm water do the trick. Others have success with rubbing alcohol. Also, believe it or not peanut butter and elbow grease?
Confirmed: They 100% get the job done.
Within reason, modify discs to your liking …
Rest assured, getting rid of the “dirt magnet” that is a leftover sticker is perfectly fine.

Googone or goofoff will leave a chemical residue. The best way to remove the leftover adhesive is with masking tape. Glue sticks to glue. Doesn’t smear the glue. Doesn’t leave slippery residue. 15 years in the sign business playing with stickers. Trust me. Use masking tape, not chemicals.
Stew, that’s great advice – you’d certainly know!
To date, haven’t had any issues with Goo Gone, though …
Like ZERO.
Could it be that some people leave it on WAY too long, you think?
Again, thanks for the ideas – they’ll be used!
