I’m not huge into Reddit. I’ve got enough contention in my life. Far too much to voluntarily welcome a new army of basement-dwelling keyboard warriors into it. But I must admit …
I peruse.
On occasion, within the ever-expanding world of disc golf, I’ll find some genuinely helpful information. Understandably, there’s also lots of first-hand knowledge on the site – this is a bonus. And if you manage a blog like me, Reddit is a gold mine of new articles ideas …
Like this one.
For example …
Click here for what I consider to be the best way to ensure the on-the-go “charging” of discs during a glow round, which – if you do things the old-fashioned way – can be somewhat of a burden. Yes, giving a glow disc a quick once-over with an LED flashlight before every single throw might only take a few seconds, but after 18 holes, that time seriously starts to add up.
Seemingly fresh out of Area 51 …
Here’s a solution:
Intrigued?
Me, too.
Unfortunately, you can’t buy these on Amazon or Infinite Discs. Instead, this comes courtesy of a creative Reddit user with WAY too much time on his hands. That’s a homemade, one-of-one disc-slot UV glow-charger made from three laser-cut polycarbonate plates – patent pending.
Permanently lit, it sits smack-dab in the middle of a disc lineup inside of a bag. According to its creator, charged by a pair of USB power blocks, the UV strip’s lights keep three glow discs on each side of it fully charged for an entire round – and with plenty of power leftover, to boot.
Just grab and throw.
They’re good to go.
Toss another one into the mix, and your whole glow bag will be perma-ready.
Ingenious.
If you’re a Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor-type, this should be easy enough – have at it. And if not, cross your fingers, toes and eyes that a major manufacturer decides to produce these things at scale. Preferably, one capable of pumping out glow plastic that actually, you know …
Glows.
MVP: Yes.
Discraft: No.
Until then, flashlights will have to do.

Editor’s Suggestions:
- Buying and selling: Don’t be a ‘disc-flipper’
- Bag patches should be a bigger deal in disc golf
- Clean disc golf is so satisfying (especially for amateurs)

Disc in The Dark has something similar available. They are fantastic!
Thanks for the tip, Wade – appreciate it!
Check out The Resonator, just got one and I love it. Minor bag rearranging so it fits in my putter pouch but I need lest discs anyways during glow rounds.
Will do!
Thanks for the tip, Josh 🙂
